KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that some Nepali migrant workers in Saudi Arabia have been hoodwinked into signing an unpaid leave document.
Consulate General of Nepal in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stated that some companies have tricked Nepali migrant staffers into signing an unpaid leave document during the lockdown.
The government of Saudi Arabia has clearly stated that no companies can cut the salary of their staffers nor can they force them to take an unpaid leave.
“Some Nepali migrant workers have informed that their companies have hoodwinked them into signing unpaid leave documents in Arabic language. We would like to urge the entire concerned not to sign such documents and inform the Consulate General of Nepal immediately if the companies force them to do so,” reads a press note issued on Sunday.
The press release has further asked the migrant workers to provide the telephone number of their human resource manager or representative of the company if such situation arises.
Meanwhile, the Consulate General has appealed to all the Nepali migrant workers in Saudi Arabia not to come out of their residence and purchase the daily essentials between 6 am to 3 pm from a nearby storage and follow all the measures imposed by the Arabian government during the lockdown.
The death toll in Saudi Arabia has climbed to 97 after 5 died in the last 24 hours. With 1, 088 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 9, 362 as of Monday morning.
Currently, 7, 867 people are undergoing treatment in the country, of which 97 are critical. A total of 1, 398 have recovered after treatment.
